
He is acclaimed for his “rare beauty of sound – powerful and balm-like at the same time” («Tagesspiegel»). Born in a small village in the Ural region, he studied in Germany and was a member of the Académie of the Opéra National de Paris. He is an alumnus of the Orsay-Royaumont Academy and a Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now and Britten Pears artist. With pianist Elitsa Desseva, he won major international song competitions in Graz, Stuttgart, and at Wigmore Hall. Engagements have taken him to the Opéra Bastille, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, Konzerthaus Berlin, Wigmore Hall, and Brucknerhaus Linz. As a concert soloist, he has appeared at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Musikverein, and the Salzburger Festspiele. Since 2009, he has been committed to benefit concerts supporting children with mental health challenges in Russia.

Bulgarian pianist Elitsa Desseva is recognized as a leading song pianist of her generation and has performed with singers such as Angelika Kirchschlager, Julian Prégardien, and Thomas Hampson. She appears regularly at major venues including the Pierre Boulez Saal, Musikverein, Wigmore Hall, Musée d’Orsay, Brucknerhaus Linz, and the Concertgebouw. In duo with baritone Mikhail Timoshenko, she won major international song competitions at Wigmore Hall, in Stuttgart, and in Graz. Since 2022, Elitsa has been director of studies and official pianist at the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie. She is an alumna of LiedBASEL, the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie, the Académie Orsay-Royaumont, and Carnegie Hall Song Studio. Elitsa has premiered works by composers such as Isabel Mundry, Bec Plexus, and Sehyung Kim, and presented her own composition „Gift“ at the LiedBasel Festival in 2024.
