Què ens hi trobarem?
El baríton Bo Wang i la pianista Yuriko Watanabe arriben a la Schubertíada com a guanyadors de la darrera edició del Concurs Internacional de Lied Helmut Deutsch, celebrat a Viena i impulsat per un dels pianistes acompanyants més reconeguts de les últimes dècades. Per al seu debut al festival, Wang i Watanabe han triat un programa que se centra en el repertori de lied més arrelat, amb una selecció d'obres de Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss i Gustav Mahler.

Bo Wang

As one of the new-generation Chinese bass-baritones emerging on the international stage, Bo Wang is increasingly recognized for his profound artistry in the art song repertoire, his versatile operatic experience, and his refined, resonant timbre. He studied at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (ZJCM) and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Together with pianist Yuriko Watanabe, he won the Dublin Song Series Prize at the 12th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in 2025, as well as the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition, a milestone that continues to shape their artistic partnership. That same year, he was also a finalist in the Operalia Competition. In the 2024/25 season, he was selected for mentorship by Thomas Hampson as part of the Heidelberger Frühling.

Yuriko Watanabe

Born in Tokyo and raised in London, she studied at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar and at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and is currently pursuing Konzertexamen Liedgestaltung at the Karlsruhe University of Music. She was a scholar of the Lied Academy at Heidelberger Frühling as well as of Renée Fleming’s SongStudio at Carnegie Hall in New York. She is a prizewinner of renowned competitions, including the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, the 13th International Competition for Art Song in Stuttgart, and the Concours musical international de Montréal. Together with bass-baritone Bo Wang, she has been awarded the 12th Dublin Song Series Prize at the International Stanisław Moniuszko Competition. In addition to her artistic activities, Yuriko Watanabe works as a lecturer at the music universities in Weimar and Freiburg.
