Since winning the Gold Medal at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow, Barry Douglas has established a major international career. In 1999, to celebrate ‘the wealth of Irish musical talent’, he formed Camerata Ireland, of which he remains Artistic Director. He is also the Artistic Director of the Clandeboye Festival. As a soloist, he has performed with such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras in Sydney and Melbourne. In recital, he also tours Europe, the USA, Russia, and South America. He has recorded the full works for solo piano of Brahms and Schubert and he's currently recording Tchaikovsky solo piano music.
