A pupil of Kurt Widmer in Basel, she completed her singing studies at the Cologne Academy of Music. She has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, and the Orchestre de Paris under conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Roger Norrington, and Thomas Hengelbrock. She is an enthusiastic lieder singer, performing in festivals and venues such as Heidelberger Frühling, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, and Wigmore Hall. Her programmes often include contemporary works, such as Singet Leise, by Moritz Eggert, or the Ophelia Sings cycle, composed especially for her by Wolfgang Rihm. In the opera field, the soprano recently performed Elegie für Junge Liebende by Henze. Her repertoire also includes the roles of Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Ilia (Idomeneo), and Zerlina (Don Giovanni), as well as Euridice/La musica in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo.
