Born in Chicago in 1974, Brown began his musical training at age four. After earning his Master’s degree from the Julliard School in New York, he continued his studies at Mozarteum University Salzburg. He has participated in masterclasses with Diemut Poppen, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Donald Weilerstein, and has been profoundly influenced by Ferenc Rados and György Kurtág. A member of Cuarteto Casals since 2002, he has also a featured guest of other chamber ensembles, including the Tokyo, Kuss, Miro, Quiroga, and Zemlinsky quartets, and the Kandinsky Trio. As a dedicated performer of new music, Brown is a founding member of Funktion and has often appeared as a soloist with BCN216. He is currently a professor of viola and chamber music at ESMUC and an assistant professor at The Reina Sofía School of Music. He is frequently invited to teach masterclasses in Europe and the United States.
