Sarah Connolly is one of the most important British mezzo-sopranos of present-day. She is a member of the Royal College of Music, where she studied piano and singing. She has been nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award, a TMA Award, two Grammy Awards as well as the Edison, Gramophone, and South Bank awards. In the field of opera, her most outstanding performances include Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, by R. Strauss at the Met in New York; Dido, in Dido and Aeneas at La Scala de Milà, and Giulio Cesare by Handel at the Glyndebourne Festival. She also performs recitals worldwide, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Dresden Staatsoper, and Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2017.
